The ultimate cleaning process
Victor A/S has invested in pickling facilities, including a so-called pickling vat, and now offers this efficient cleaning process to new as well as existing customers. “Pickling is a metal surface treatment used to remove impurities such as stains, rust or scale from ferrous metals”, Production Manager at Victor A/S, Karsten Møller, explains. “The metal might have been stained during hot working processes such as welding leaving a discoloring oxide layer or scale on the surface. By dipping the workpiece into a vat of pickle liquor, the scale is efficiently removed.” At Victor A/S a solution of pickle liquor that contains water and phosphoric acid is used and with the new pickling vat, they are capable of handling elements in the size of up to 1x1,5x6,5 meters.
Why choose pickling?
“Pickling is an alternative to sand blasting and a good solution in production processes where the degree of purity and cleanness is an important parameter”, Karsten Møller explains. “Examples are pipes in hydraulic systems or lubricating oil systems.”
Contract with MAN Diesel
The decision to invest in pickling facilities seems to have been right as the first contracts have already been brought home. “We have entered into an agreement with MAN Diesel and will be handling the last 60-65 engines that are to be build here in Frederikshavn”, says Karsten Møller. “In addition, we will of course focus on the steel industry, ship yards and manufacturers of hydraulic systems.”
Victor A/S
Apart from its new pickling facilities, Victor’s primary business areas include prefabrication of piping systems for among others the offshore industry, pressurized storage tanks and construction of machine units. The sister company Victor Refrigeration A/S constructs, maintains, repairs and sells cooling plants to the marine and offshore industries.
