27-01-2010 The Marine Gear Manufacturer Mekanord has received its largest order ever.
Exxon Mobil have ordered 5 newbuildings for their offshore oil activities.
Mekanord are to supply these with a total of 5 propulsion units consisting of 10 gearboxes, 10 propellers and 10 control-systems.
“We are very happy to have been able to secure this order, considering the turbulent times the company has been through” states the CEO Søren Klyvø.
The order secures Mekanord’s orderbook well into 2010. The propulsion units are to be delivered in May, June and July ensuring, together with other orders, a high level of activity in the first half of 2010.
Mekanord has specialised in the design and manufacture of marinegearboxes etc. for Controllable Pitch Propulsion in the range of app. 200HP to 5000HP, delivering the complete package of gearbox, C.P.-propeller and remote control system.
“Service and repair is a growing activity for us, states Klyvø, and not only in the maritime area, but also in the wind energy sector where we e.g. have repaired gears for Vattenfall.
Mekanord employs 43 staff.
